Frequently asked questions
Where are the rules?
They are in the app: tap the ? button on the main menu. The same text is on the Rules page here, and it works without a connection either way.
My game disappeared — can I get it back?
A single-player game saves itself after every card. Choose Resume on the main menu and you will be put back on the card you were looking at. The save lives on your device, so deleting the app deletes it too.
Why can I not declare above 120?
You may not declare a contract above 120 unless you hold a marriage — a King and Queen of the same suit. There are only 120 points in the pack itself, so anything higher has to come from marriages. This is the Declare above 120 without a marriage agreement in Settings, and it can be turned on.
What is the barrel?
A score of exactly 880. You cannot pass through it: any score that would land between 880 and 1000 stops there instead, and from the barrel you have three attempts to win the game by taking a contract of at least 120. Fail all three and you fall off. Every part of that is adjustable in Settings.
How does multiplayer work?
Choose Play Online, enter any display name, then create a room and share the code, or join one. Empty seats are filled by the computer at the strength you pick, so a table of two can still start. No account is needed.
I lost my connection during an online game.
Reopen the app and rejoin — your seat is held for a while and the deal is replayed back to you where you left it. If the room has already expired, start a new one.
The game plays differently from how I learned it.
Almost certainly on purpose. Thousand is played slightly differently in every family, so around forty agreements are switches in Settings → Agreements: the barrel, the bolts, distributions, the golden round, the dark game, whether trumps may be declared on the first trick, and more. Set the table the way you play it.
Can I change the language or the deck?
Yes. Settings holds the language (or follow the device), the card indices in Cyrillic or Latin, the felt colour, the animation speed and the order your hand is sorted in.
How do I report a bug?
Write to [email protected] with what happened, what you expected, and the version number from the About dialog. A screenshot helps more than anything.
